Seven Sisters

Theses are the old coastguard cottages overlooking the Seven Sisters just outside of Seaford (and near Cuckmere Haven) on an imagined calm summer day (not today). RESERVED

Long Man of Wilmington (Friday 6th Dec)

A majestic view from the entrance to the car park. I would imagine that hill paintings like this are quite a shock when first viewed by visitors from abroad.

Eastbourne seafront at night 2

This is driving east past South Cliff Tower on EB seafront, Hastings lights in the distance.

Eastbourne seafront at night

A study of the road near the Western Lawns opposite the Grand Hotel on Eastboune seafront. This is unfinished as I will be using a gloss glaze to enhance the feel of lights on a wet road.

Eastbourne Pier at night (2)

One of my favourite paintings is Whistlers nocturne in blue and gold of the Battersea bridge. He managed to achieve a fantastic sense the time before darkness falls with minimal colour and marks. This is another view of the Eastbourne Pier just before dark.

Nightime downland

I've seen a lot of the downs just before dusk recently. I love the contrast and drama of the impending night after a sunny day. This is near Beddingham.

Sat 31st Oct - Winter sea

Really bleak today, but beautiful breakers. The more I paint these wave portraits, the more I enjoy it. I'm going to start on a really big one soon.
