Sat 30th Jan - Downland near Alfriston

Mixed weather conditions today - nice and bright but still very cold. This is a sunny patch between clouds.

Winter Sea 4

I haven't painted the sea for a while. Perhaps because I've not visited the beach for the past month or so. But it's still there, changeable as ever. This is near Seaford.

Two of the Seven Sisters

This is looking inland from the sea at Cuckmere. The white dots are sheep.

House near Hope Gap

This is a wooden dwelling at the bottom of the slope on the Seaford side of Cuckmere Haven. I think Hope Gap is just around the corner. How about living here then? Right on the edge of the cliff, with green fields behind and looking out to sea.

Cuckmere Haven - Sun 24 Jan

We walked to Cuckmere Haven from the car park near Seaford Head yesterday. It's great when the sun comes out. There was spring in the air!

Hastings - Robertson St

I was born in Hastings and feel strangely 'at home' whenever I visit and could easlily move back here. This is looking East along Robertson St.

I am often drawn to solitary buildings that contrast dramatically with their surroundings. See the pink house and others in Rye. This is in Hastings Old Town.

De La Warr Pavilion Bexhill

This is the amazing staircase window above the main entrance. A real 'star' of a building this. Revitalised since the reopening four years or so ago.SOLD

Downs and river

This is just north of Piddinghoe looking east. I'd forgotten what a pretty little place Piddinghoe is and so easy to pass by if you don't know about it.

Sculpture in Manor Gardens

I love this sculpture and for some reason, whenever I see it I am surprised it's still there! Perhaps it's something to do with the ephemeral nature of the subject (it's made from bits of groyne) or the condition of the nearby old Towner building.

De La Warr Pavilion Bexhill, winter study

It's fascinating how the vertical elevations of this building take on different hues according to the prevailing weather conditions.
This is in the recent snow.

Winter trees 2

Very cold again today - car stuck in snow. For some reason I've found myself looking at trees this winter a lot more than ever before. This is near my house in Hurst Road.

The Lamb - Eastbourne Old Town

Still really cold and icy underfoot. It seems harder to walk around in the slush than in the fresh snow last week and over the weekend.

I haven't been out of Eastbourne much since the snow started but I love what the snow does to the landscape. This is in Gildredge Park.

Manor Gardens

Here's the old Towner Art Gallery building under snow. A beautiful building in any weather, some of you may know there is a campaign underway to ensure the building doesn't fall into delapidation.

Black Dog

Spent a pleasant half an hour watching dogs playing in the snow today. This is in Gildredge Park, Old Town, Eastbourne.

Pilgrims, Old Town Eastbourne

I managed to move my car today (it's been snowed in for the past couple of days). It's still really cold (but really beautiful) and it makes everything slower - in a nice way. This is a house called Pilgrims opposite the Lamb in Old Town.

More snow

Lots of snow again today and FREEZING cold. Went for a walk in Gildredge Park and it was like a winter wonderland. Kids playing, dogs running. The snow has a way of slowing everything down but exciting the senses at the same time. This is a view of sunlight through trees.

Near Horsham

Early morning heading south out of Horsham. Frost still on the road - the South Downs ahead.

Near Steyning

This is a road/downs composition based on a view just east of Steyning. Very cold today. Snow on distant hills.
